I spent weeks researching and testing different CRT Monitors. I wanted the analog retro look that came from arcade games of the 80’s. Enter RGB CRT monitors.
RGB CRT monitors generally use a “professional-grade” tube with high TVL (Television lines) of 600+, much higher than their consumer-grade cousins that you probably had in your home growing up.
not just another crt effect
Almost all of the CRT or VHS effects you see out there are using consumer-grade monitors to film their effects. That wasn't the look I was going for. I wanted to get the analog scan line texture only seen in professional-grade CRT’s.
These professional CRT monitors from the 80’s & 90’s resolve more detail and have the coveted ‘scan-line’ look. This has the retro gaming community driving prices through the roof! Just look on eBay ;-)
